Our coaching approach

What to Expect From Our Electronic Music Lessons

Every coaching is 100% personalized

You are unique with your goals, strengths, and struggles. We acknowledge this and create a tailor-made coaching program for you that takes you from where you are to where you want to be. First of all, we find out what you want to achieve and what pain points you currently have.

We then design a personalized roadmap for you that lets you enjoy your growth. You still have to do the heavy lifting, of course, but it’s going to feel much easier when you have a coach at your side.

Our electronic music lessons are coaching sessions, not tutorials

If you’re looking for someone who walks you through an Ableton 101 class, our electronic music lessons are probably not for you. We don’t offer tutorials because there’s already enough of them available through online courses and YouTube channels.

Instead, we focus on 1-on-1 coaching sessions that go all-in on your growth potential. A lot of our work involves asking the right questions and having important discussions around creative and technical topics. True growth happens at the edge of your comfort zone. This is where we’re going to take you, in a safe and nurturing manner.

Regular, remote sessions through online meeting software

We offer our electronic music lessons to artists from all over the world in many different time zones. Our coaching sessions take place using online meeting software (Google Meet, Zoom, Skype,...) and we use a cutting-edge stack of tools to make the coaching experience as awesome for you as possible.

To get the most out of our coaching packages, we recommend sticking to a fixed, bi-weekly rhythm for a certain period of time. Everything from three months to a whole year is possible. We offer you, of course, to book a single session first to find out if it‘s worth it to you. The first step, before committing to anything, is a 100% free “let’s get to know each other” video call.

What Our Clients Say About Us

"I have used Philip’s coaching program to better define my artist branding and concept as well as to deep dive into compression, resulting in fully grasping its nuances that I have been struggling with for years. If you wish to speed up your learning, I fully recommend him!“

António Taveira

melodic techno producer,

Coaching client

“Philip does a lot of mastering for my record label. I have mixed most of them and I really like the way he understood what I was going for. It’s not easy for a mixing engineer to find a great mastering engineer. I know I definetly found one in the Techno area. Highly recommended!“

Céline Frezza

techno Label owner,

mastering client

"Philip is a true pro, this clearly shows through his understanding of the music scene and technical advice that he offers. The quality of my productions and mindset improved drastically with his help. This has directly led to having multiple releases signed on some of my favorite labels."

Coaching Method

Here’s Why Our Music Producer Coaching Is Highly Effective

First of all, we’re a value-driven business. We believe in collaborating closely, communicating honestly, and sharing knowledge openly. Our goal is to win you as a coaching client for life, not just for the next project. Therefore, we do everything to make sure you have a great experience when working with us.

The coaching method we use for our electronic music lessons is based on three key principles. They are designed to facilitate maximum growth in a short period of time. Let us be your mentor, your accountability buddy, and that good friend that gives you some tough love when you need it.

Here are the three key principles of our coaching method:

1. Focus on what’s truly essential

There are thousands of things you could learn, tools you could use, or strategies you could follow. The only problem is that your resources (time, energy, and money) are limited.

We help you identify what truly makes a difference and where to allocate your resources effectively. Essentialism guarantees meaningful progress towards your goals.

2. Learn by doing and take massive action

The most effective way to grow your skills is to implement the things you’ve learned immediately. We help you put the theory into practice and use it in your productions and for your artist brand.

Don’t worry, you won’t get meaningless “homework”. Instead, you will work on the things that are important right now so you directly benefit from what you’ve learned.

3. Improve by asking the right questions

Critical listening and critical thinking are two of the most important skills you will grow with us. You can only get better if you ask the right questions and evaluate your creative output strategically.

We help you apply the “build-measure-learn” cycle to your artist career. Our electronic music lessons are designed to facilitate your growth as an artist as well as a person.

If you’re one of the people who want to make the electronic music scene a better place, we have something else for you. Besides running our mastering studio in Berlin, we‘re hosting a podcast & blog called Pick Yourself that helps upcoming music producers build a meaningful artist-career. Check it out, it’s 100% free.

Get Your Questions Answered

Do you offer coaching for my style of music?

Our electronic music lessons focus on genres like Techno, House, Electronica, and Ambient. If your style of music can be considered “electronic music“ of some sort, then I’m sure we’re a good fit. Don’t hesitate to drop us a message, we’re happy to help you.

How much do you charge?

This depends on how many sessions you’d like to book and what level of support you’re looking for. We offer different coaching tiers. The best way to find out what makes sense in your current situation is to get in touch with us. We’ll have a 100% free “Let’s get to know each other”-call in which we can find out what would be most helpful to you.

What are the topics of your coaching?

Our electronic music lessons are designed to help you grow in all aspects of your artist-career. That means: We work on the music itself (composition, arrangement, production), the sound (sound design, mixing, mastering), but we also help you build a stronger artist brand and grow your tribe of true fans. You decide, of course, in which area you’d like to spend the most time and energy.

How long is a typical session with you?

We aim for 45-60 minutes per session because that’s the sweet spot of mental focus. The typical 10 minutes of personal chatter are not included, of course.

Is this for beginners, intermediates, or professionals?

Let’s put it like this: You should have a decent understanding of at least one DAW (it doesn’t matter if it‘s Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic, or something else) and you should already be working on your first songs. As explained earlier, we don‘t offer typical tutorial-style lessons because there’s already enough material out there.

Our past coaching clients consist of ambitious intermediates, seasoned pros, but also beginners who’d like to learn faster compared to what they could achieve on their own.

What does a coaching session with you look like?

Before we even get into the actual coaching session, we evaluate where you stand in your music career, what goals you have, and what your biggest pain points are. Based on that, we design a tailor-made coaching concept that helps you get from point A to point B. It’s highly personalized and you get maximum 1-on-1 attention.

We conduct our coaching sessions remotely via video meeting software like Google Meet, Zoom, or Skype and you will have 45-60 minutes of undivided attention with Philip from Copilco Productions. It’s mostly a conversation in which we try to help you resolve creative roadblocks, overcome technical struggles, and take you music career one step further. We’re also going to give you precise action steps that you can take with you and implement right after the session.

We recommend booking a series of at least four sessions to get the most out of the program. This way, we can follow up with you, make sure you stay on track, hold you accountable, and ultimately help you achieve your goals.

Will you answer all my questions during a coaching session?

Yes, please go ahead and ask us anything you want and we’ll do our best to support you. We’re happy to share everything we know and we don’t keep any “secrets” from you. The only goal of our electronic music lessons is to help you grow as much as possible and as fast as possible.

What happens if I contact you now?

First of all, let’s get to know each other. We can do this via email or in a short call, whatever you prefer. We have a few onboarding questions that help us understand what your needs and goals are. Based on that, we can identify (together) what services you might need, what budget you should set aside for that, and what the next steps are. Go ahead and drop us a message, we’d love to get to know you!
